End User License Agreement
Please read these licence terms before installing, activating or using EasyCFD.
Last updated: August 2026
This End User License Agreement (“Agreement”) governs the installation and use of the EasyCFD software (“Software”).
The Software is Copyright © Antonio Gameiro Lopes (“Author”). All rights not expressly granted under this Agreement are reserved.
By installing, activating, or using the Software, the user or licensee (“User”) acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to the terms of this Agreement.
1. License Grant
Subject to the terms of this Agreement, the Author grants the User a limited, non-exclusive license to install and use the Software for its intended purposes.
Each purchased license permits the installation and use of the Software on one computer at a time, subject to the license-transfer provisions described below.
Two types of license are available:
The purchase of a license does not transfer ownership of the Software or any associated intellectual property rights to the User.
2. Trial Version
The Software may be installed and evaluated free of charge for a trial period of 20 days.
The purpose of the trial period is to allow prospective Users to evaluate the functionality, capabilities, suitability, and limitations of the Software before purchasing a license.
At the end of the trial period, continued use of the Software requires the purchase and activation of a valid license.
By purchasing a license after evaluating the Software, the User acknowledges that they have had the opportunity to determine whether the Software is suitable for their intended use.
3. Annual License
An Annual License grants the User the right to install and use the Software for a period of one year from the date of activation, unless a different starting date is expressly specified at the time of purchase.
The Annual License includes, without additional charge, all minor updates and major upgrades of EasyCFD released during the period in which the license remains active.
When the Annual License expires, the Software will cease to operate under that license. Continued use of the Software requires renewal of the Annual License or the purchase of another valid EasyCFD license.
If the Annual License is renewed, the User may continue using the Software for the new license period in accordance with the terms applicable to that renewal.
Renewal is not automatic unless this is expressly indicated during the purchasing process.
4. Perpetual License
A Perpetual License grants the User the right to use the purchased major version of EasyCFD indefinitely.
The Perpetual License includes all minor updates released for that major version.
For example, a Perpetual License purchased for EasyCFD version 6 includes versions 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, and other minor updates within the 6.x series, if such updates are released.
A Perpetual License does not include future major versions of the Software. For example, a license for EasyCFD 6 does not automatically include EasyCFD 7.
The Author may, at their discretion, offer existing Perpetual License holders an upgrade to a future major version at a reduced price. Such an upgrade is not guaranteed by this Agreement.
No annual fee is required to continue using the major version covered by a Perpetual License.
5. License Activation
Activation may require information identifying the computer on which the Software is installed, specifically the MachineID generated by the Software or its licensing system.
Following purchase and receipt of the required MachineID, the Author provides the User with the corresponding license information necessary to activate the Software.
License activation information is intended solely for the computer and User associated with the corresponding license and may not be shared with other Users.
6. License Transfer and Replacement
A valid license may be transferred from one computer to another using the license-transfer procedure or software provided by the Author.
The User should transfer the license before replacing or making significant changes to computer hardware whenever reasonably possible.
If a valid license becomes unusable because of computer formatting, replacement of a hard disk or motherboard, hardware failure, or a similar event, the Author will provide a replacement license upon reasonable verification of the existing license and the identity of the legitimate license holder.
A replacement or transferred license does not authorize simultaneous use of the same license on multiple computers.
For an Annual License, any replacement or transfer does not extend the original license period.
7. License Restrictions
Except where expressly permitted by applicable law, the User may not:
• modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Software;
• alter or remove copyright notices, license information, or other proprietary notices contained in the Software;
• circumvent, disable, modify, or interfere with the Software’s licensing or activation mechanisms;
• distribute, sell, sublicense, rent, lease, lend, or otherwise make the Software or license available to another person or organization without authorization from the Author;
• share license information or activation credentials with another person;
• copy the Software except as reasonably necessary for installation, backup, or other uses permitted by this Agreement; or
modify the Software installation files in a manner that may affect the integrity or operation of the Software.
Nothing in this Agreement is intended to restrict any rights that cannot lawfully be restricted under applicable law.
8. Intellectual Property
The Software, its source code, executable code, user interface, documentation, and associated materials are protected by copyright and other applicable intellectual property laws.
All ownership and intellectual property rights in the Software remain with the Author.
No rights are granted to the User except those expressly stated in this Agreement.
9. Numerical and Physical Limitations
EasyCFD is computational fluid dynamics software intended for the numerical simulation and analysis of fluid-flow and heat-transfer problems.
To the Author’s knowledge, the physical models and numerical methods implemented in the Software have been implemented correctly, and reasonable efforts have been and will continue to be made to identify and correct software errors.
However, CFD calculations are inherently dependent on factors including the physical model, computational mesh, boundary conditions, numerical methods, convergence criteria, and parameters selected by the User.
Consequently, the Author cannot guarantee that the Software will produce a converged or physically meaningful solution for every problem or under every set of conditions.
Certain physical situations may fail to produce converged solutions because of the characteristics of the physical problem or limitations inherent in the numerical methods. Examples may include steady-state calculations for flows at high Rayleigh numbers and flows containing recirculation regions close to outlet boundaries.
The User is responsible for assessing the suitability of the selected physical models, numerical parameters, boundary conditions, computational mesh, and resulting numerical solution for the intended application.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Software is provided “as is” without warranties or representations of any kind, whether express or implied.
The Author does not warrant that the Software will be error-free, uninterrupted, suitable for every application, or capable of producing accurate or converged results for every physical or numerical problem.
The User assumes responsibility for verifying and validating results obtained with the Software before relying upon them for engineering, scientific, educational, commercial, or other purposes.
Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits any warranty, guarantee, or statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the User assumes the risks associated with the use of the Software and with the interpretation and application of results obtained using the Software.
The Author shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the installation, use, inability to use, or results produced by the Software, including loss of profits, loss of data, loss of business, or similar losses.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Author’s aggregate liability arising from the Software or this Agreement shall not exceed the amount originally paid by the User for the applicable Software license.
Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
12. Software Updates and Availability
The Author may release corrections, improvements, minor updates, or major versions of the Software from time to time.
The Author does not guarantee that updates or upgrades will be released at any particular frequency or that development of the Software will continue indefinitely.
Eligibility for updates and upgrades depends on the type of license purchased:
• Users with an active Annual License are entitled to minor updates and major upgrades released while the license remains active.
• Users with a Perpetual License are entitled to minor updates within the purchased major version but are not automatically entitled to subsequent major versions.
The availability of a newer version does not terminate the User’s right to continue using the version covered by a valid Perpetual License.
13. Termination
The User’s rights under this Agreement may terminate if the User materially breaches its terms.
Upon termination resulting from a breach of this Agreement, the User must cease using the Software and remove copies of the Software covered by the terminated license, except where retention is permitted or required by applicable law.
Expiration of an Annual License because it has not been renewed is not considered a breach of this Agreement. It simply terminates the User’s right to use the Software until the Annual License is renewed or another valid EasyCFD license is obtained.
14. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of Portugal.
Where the User is a consumer, nothing in this Agreement affects any mandatory consumer rights or protections available under applicable Portuguese or European Union law, including mandatory rules concerning jurisdiction.
For Users acting in a professional or commercial capacity, disputes arising from this Agreement shall be subject to the competent courts of Portugal, subject to any mandatory provisions of applicable law.
15. Entire Agreement and Severability
This Agreement constitutes the license terms governing the User’s installation and use of the Software.
If any provision of this Agreement is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision shall be applied to the maximum extent permitted by law, and the remaining provisions shall continue in effect.
